2 Samuel Chapter 5:
David Becomes King over All of Israel and Judah
1. Who suggested that David be made king of Israel?
2. How old was David when he became king? How long was he king in Hebron? In Jerusalem? (Note: The word “all” is used in the Chinese New Version to emphasize that both the north section and the southern section, Israel and Judah are both included.)
3. Describe how David conquered and fortified Jerusalem.
4. What is another name for Jerusalem? Who built the palace for David?
5. Vs. 12: “David then perceived that the LORD had e___ him k___ over Israel, and that he had e___ his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel” (NRSV).
6. Nonetheless, David took even more what?
7. After God and the people made David king, how did the Philistines “test” this new king?
8. Vs. 22-25: What words enabled David (and us also) to know that David’s successful warfare was because God fought on his behalf?
