撒母耳记下第16-17章：王的生命在神的手中
一。撒母耳记下16章：押沙龙的追随者越来越多
1. 洗巴是谁？洗巴把什么带给大卫讨好他？您认为洗巴为什么这样做？他诚心吗？大卫信任洗巴吗？
2. 请从两个不同的角度思考大卫对洗巴的反应。（1）米非波设是谁的后代？因此，也许米非波设有理由支持押沙龙。为什么？如果是这样，洗巴要表示他支持大卫。（2）但，也有可能洗巴利用良机在大卫的面前污辱米非波设的名字。大卫相信（1）还是（2）？您自己相信（1）还是（2）？（撒母耳记下19章继续记载此故事。）
3. 大卫怎么样赏赐洗巴？
4. 示每是谁？示每怎么样凶待大卫，并向大卫说些什么？
5. 洗鲁雅的儿子亚比筛是谁？亚比筛问王您我也想要问的问题：为什么让这个人骂王？大卫如何回答？从中我们看到大卫人格的哪一面？但，我们可以想象，这不是此事的最后一句话！（参看撒母耳记下19章及列王记上2章。）
6. 10节：大卫说“洗鲁雅的儿子，我与你们有何关涉呢？”是什么意思？大卫在其他哪个经节还说了同一句？
7. 押沙龙进入哪里？谁跟他在一块？
8. 押沙龙疑问谁的到场？他怎么样才让押沙龙放心？但，我们知道他在场的目的是什么？
9. 20-22节：亚希多弗第一次出主意给押沙龙，说什么？也许亚希多弗不知道他正好应验先知拿但告诉大卫王的话，是什么？（参看撒母耳记下12:11-12。）注意：当时社会重视国王出世后或下台后，他的妃嫔归谁。加强那人获得王位之权利。
10. 可见，亚希多弗很有智慧。因此亚希多弗说话，提出注意等，好象谁说话一样？
二。撒母耳记下17章：亚希多弗对户筛
1. 为了帮助亚押沙杀父篡位，龙希多弗出出什么计策给押沙龙？
2. 押沙龙和众长老都认为亚斯多弗的主意好不好？
3. 您认为亚希多弗的计策好不好？是否应该能够成功？
4. 但是，押沙龙不知道他父亲已经祷告神说：“耶和华啊，求你使亚希多弗的计谋变为___拙！”（撒母耳记下15:31）。
5. 请述说亚基人户筛怎么样说服押沙龙等人改变看法，计划与计策。
6. 14节：“押沙龙和以色列众人都说：「亚基人户筛的谋略比亚希多弗的___！」因耶和华定意要破坏亚希多弗的好计谋，为要降灾___给押沙龙”[新译本]。
7. 户筛怎么样把实情的转变告诉大卫？
8. 户筛叫大卫赶快过___ ___河。
9. 亚希多弗知道他的谋略没有被重视采纳，他做了什么？（今天有没有一些文化传统也劝人如此做？）
10. 押沙龙准备作战。押沙龙任命谁为元帅？（不再是谁？）
11. 请说明基列的罗基琳人巴西莱是谁，作了些什么，对大卫王有何贡献等。
12. 押沙龙在哪里？大卫在哪里？
13. 撒母耳记上我们阅读扫罗王追大卫时，我们觉得很不必要，但是我们可以理解扫罗王忌妒大卫，所以以恶待他。因此，我们可以接受。但是现在儿子（押沙龙）追父亲（大卫），要抢王位，篡夺王国，至少我这个第21世纪的西方人觉得很难思议。因为中国古代也有儿子篡位（譬如：春秋时代，楚穆王—商臣—杀父篡位；隋炀帝杨广杀父篡位；刘劭杀父篡位），所以也许东方人不觉得这个记载那样难听。无论如何，此情况都应验先知拿但的话：“…剑必永不离开你的家。耶和华如此说：我必从你家中兴起祸患攻击你…”您对此有什么想法？从中学习什么？
14. 请阅读诗篇第3篇。作者是谁？在什么情况下写的？

2 Samuel 16: Followers of Absalom Increase in Number
1. Who is Ziba? What did Ziba bring David to ingratiate himself to David? Why do you think Ziba did this? Was he sincere? Did David trust him?
2. Consider from two different angles David’s reaction to Ziba. (1) Whose descendent was Mephibosheth? Because of this, perhaps Mephibosheth had reason to support Absalom. Why? If this is the case, then Ziba wanted to express support for David. (2) However, it is also possible that Ziba took advantage of this opportunity to smear Mephibosheth’s name before David. Did David believe (1) or (2)? Which do you think is correct? (1) or (2)? (This story will be continued in 2 Samuel chapter 19.)
3. How did David reward Ziba?
4. Who is Shimei? How did Shimei treat David, and what did he say to David?
5. Who is Abishai the son of Zeruiah? Abishai asked the king the same question that you and I want to ask him: Why does the king allow this man to curse you? How did David reply? What about David’s character do we learn from this? However, we can imagine that this is not the final word we will hear about this incident! (See 2 Samuel 19 and 1 Kings 2.)
6. Vs. 10: What did David mean when he said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah?” In what other passage in the Bible did David make this same remark?
7. Where did Absalom go? Who was with him?
8. Whose presence did Absalom question? What did he say to make Absalom believe him? We know, however, that he was there for what purpose?
9. Vs. 20-22: What did Ahithophel recommend the first time he gave Absalom advice? Perhaps Ahithophel did not realize that his counsel fulfilled what Nathan the prophet told David would happen, which was what? (See 2 Samuel 12:11-12.) Note: In that day, society put a lot of emphasis on the person to whom the concubines of a former king were given after the king died or was deposed. Possession of the concubines strengthened one’s claim to the throne.
10. Ahithophel obviously was a very wise person, so whenever he spoke, gave counsel, etc, it was as if who had spoken?
2 Samuel 17: Ahithophel vs. Hushai
1. What strategy did Ahithophel suggest to kill David and usurp the throne?
2. What did Absalom and the elders think of Ahithophel’s plan?
3. Do you think Ahithophel’s strategy was a good one? Would it have been successful?
4. Absalom did not know, however, that his father had prayed, “O LORD, I pray you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into f___” (2 Samuel 15:31, NRSV).
5. Explain how Hushai the Archite convinced Absalom and the others to change their viewpoint, plan and strategy.
6. Vs. 14: “Absalom and all the men of Israel said, ‘The counsel of Hushai the Archite is b___ than the counsel of Ahithophel.’ For the LORD had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the LORD might bring r___ on Absalom” (NRSV).
7. How did Hushai get the news of this turnaround to David?
8. Hushai told David to cross the J___ River quickly.
9. What did Ahithophel do after he realized that his advice had not been followed? Do not some cultural traditions today also encourage people to do this?
10. Absalom prepared for battle. Absalom appointed whom over the army? (It no longer was who?)
11. Explain who Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim is, what he did, how he helped David, etc.
12. Where is Absalom? Where is David?
13. When we read how King Saul chased David in 1 Samuel, we thought how unnecessary it was, but we understood that King Saul envied David and thus treated him thusly. We could, therefore, accept it. But now, we see a son chasing his father, wanting to snatch the throne and usurp the kingdom, and it is very difficult for me, a 21st century American, to accept. Since Chinese history also includes instances where a son usurped his father’s throne, perhaps it is easier for Easterners to accept. (For example, during the Spring-Autumn period, in the State of Chu, Mu Xiangchen killed his father and usurped the throne. Sui Yang Di did the same thing during the Sui Dynasty, as did Liu Shao about A.D. 424.) Whatever the case, this situation fulfills what the prophet Nathan said, “…the sword shall never depart from your house… Thus says the Lord, I will raise up trouble against you from within your own house…” [NRSV]. What do you think about all of this? What do you learn from this?
14. Read Psalms 3. Who wrote this? Under what circumstances was this Psalm written?
